Pumkin Carving

Pumpkin carving was a little more busy this year with Hazel around. She didn't mind the slime and she wanted to eat the seeds sooo bad. Since we wouldn't let her eat the seeds she had to settle for teh cut out part of the pumpkin to chew on. I know - sound yummy doesn't it :P Lincoln wouldn't even touch the pumkin guts - he had the little poker that came in our kit and all he wanted to do was poke, poke, poke the pumkins. Both kids had a blast and were very excited when we could finally light up the pumpkins.

I carved mine & Hazels pumkins. (Hazel's is the baby Frank obviously)

Tommy carved himself a Jack Skellington (thanks for the idea Megan S.)

And since Lincoln wasn't into even gutting the pumkin, he just put stickers on his. Have a safe and Happy Halloween everyone!

Two Cutest Monsters!

My mom, being the crafty woman she is, made these adorable monster hooded towels for all of her grandkids for Halloween. Just wanted to show them off because I love them and so do my kids!

Halloween Parties

We are really in the spirit this Halloween. Lincoln is Batman and insisted that Tommy be the Joker. Hazel and I are in unrelated costumes, we just used what we already had on hand. She is a cute fuzzy chicken & I am a Renaissance lady. We had Halloween parties four nights in a row and we are tuckered out. The first one was at my moms house with the cousins. We had a great time doing crafts, decorating cookies & cupcakes and eating chili and cornbread.

The next night we had our Ward Halloween Party. Lincoln had a blast with his friends and he was very excited that two other boys dressed up as Batman. His favorite part was where he had to eat a donut off a string without using his hands. Of course he had to pick a powdered donut! As you can see in the pic below he had powder everywhere! At least it was easy to wipe off :)

On Saturday night we were invited to a friends house for a party (by this point Lincoln thinks Halloween is the best Holiday because we get to play with friends at parties every night!!) It was great visiting with everyone and seeing all of the GREAT costumes! There were tons of kids for Linc to play with and lots of yummy appetizers. I included a pic of my mummy relish tray - I never make "themed" holiday foods, so I was pretty proud of my mummy bread bowl. At this party Lincoln got his first pair of vampire teeth and he thinks they are great (especially because they glow in the dark!)

On Sunday night we went to a party at Tommy's sisters house. Halloween is her favorite holiday and her house is the most decorated one I have ever seen. It is decorated inside and out - seriously every room in the house except for the bedrooms are full of the best halloween decorations you have ever seen. She actually had channel 13 news out to her house last week. We ate, visited with family, and had our annual pumpkin carving contest. This year she sprayed some of the pumpkins with chalkboard paint which was great for the younger kids. Time went by too fast and it was time to go home way too soon. We will look forward to going agian next year. Happy Halloween everybody!!

Vampire Linc

First a few facts:

1. Lincoln loves Halloween shows. He watches them over & over & over.... His favorite is Max & Ruby Halloween where Max dresses up as a vampire. He would seriously watch it all day if I would let him.

2. Lincoln has never colored on himself with markers. He is really good at just coloring on paper - until now

Earlier today Lincoln wanted to make a craft so I gave him some paper & his washable markers (thank goodness they're washable!). I didn't think to clean up the mess before naptime since it has never been a problem before. Well, I guess either before or after Linc had his nap he got a little bored, because when he woke up this is what he looked like. He said he wanted to be a vampire. His hands are so black everything he touches is left with a grey transfer.

You would think by the look on his face that I yelled at him, but I didn't. I actually laughed a little, then told him we don't color on ourselves, and went down to change his sheets. I think the look is a look of guilt because he knows that he should know better.

Hazel Happenings

Tomorrow Hazel will be 11 months old! I know - I can't believe it either. It has gone by so fast. Her personality is blossoming right now. She loves to laugh, talk on the phone, climb the stairs, eat dirt, rocks, leaves (really anything), and she loves to get into the fridge. Last night I had the fridge open looking for salsa and she climbed up into it all by herself. Luckily I had my camera in the kitchen so I snapped a pic. She also stood yesterday all by herself for about 1/2 a minute. I was so excited I got out my video camera but of course she wouldn't do it again. She is pretty much happy all the time except if I am trying to put anything on her head (ex: hairclips, headbands, hats, etc) Love Love Love Love her!!!
eating dirt Please don't pay any attention to how messy my fridge is. It is in desperate need of a cleaning, I know!

Represent!

Okay, so you might not find this photo as funny as I do, but I laugh so hard everytime I look at it. When we were walking around Gardner Village the other day looking at the witch displays there was music playing. Lincoln says "mom, look at me, I'm dancing" He was dancing so funny (he was sitting in the stroller just bouncing side to side with this look on his face) I had to take a picture and I caught him mid bounce. To me this photo seriously makes me think "represent!"
We met up with some of Lincolns cousins while we were there. Here is Linc with Owen.

MMMM, cookie dough!

The other day when I made cookies my "little chef" Lincoln decided to go to the store with his daddy. Since Hazel was home with me I decided to let her be my cookie dough tester instead. This was her first experience licking anything off of beaters & she absolutely LOVED it!!!

This next picture has nothing to do with cookie dough, but I love how funny her face looks in it so I thought I would add it! Isn't she such a cute head!!?

I love this guy!

Today on the way to school Lincoln was telling me how he learned about the color red in class. He was naming off things that are red. Then he started mumbling something about a cup, something, something, something.... Then he said:

Linc: I am thinking about a cup with a funny lid and straw. I just can't think of it. Mom can you please help me figure it out? It's a cup with a funny lid.

Me: a slurpee?

Linc: yes mom, that's it! You are the best mom in the world!

I absolutely LOVE days like these when I can do something that makes my child so happy and grateful towards me. Especially when it was such an easy answer!

So Pleased!!

I really do not understand the fascination for babies with toilet paper. Hazel LOVES to unravel the toilet paper any chance she gets. The other day I walked by & was very surprised to find Lincoln helping her destroy the tp. Even as a baby he never played in the bathroom like Hazel does - so it was surprising to find him as her accomplice. I love the smile on Hazel's face. She is always so pleased when you catch her doing something she shouldn't be (making a mess, climbing the stairs, etc, etc.) At least it was an easy mess to clean up!
